How to stop ADT alarm from low battery beeping?

To stop your alarm from beeping you first need to determine which system you have. You can do this by logging in to MyADT and clicking on the “Alarm System” tab.

You will see the name of your system displayed on the top left. It will also show you an image of the system; if this doesn’t match yours, simply click “Not your system?” to scroll through the images and identify yours.

Now that you have successfully identified which is your system, you can choose the correct instructions for your alarm. How to know whether you need to recharge or replace the battery?

On average, a battery on an ADT alarm system will last three years. However, it’s simple to determine whether you need to recharge or replace your alarm system battery. In the event that your sensor battery is low, you’ll need to replace it as these cannot be recharged.

The alarm system battery is your backup power supply. If your system has been using battery power instead of AC power due to a power outage or any other reason you may just need to recharge it.

Before running out and buying a new battery, you should also perform a simple test to confirm it needs replacing. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Log in to MyADT.com and choose “My Alarm” on the dashboard.
  2. A menu will appear and you should pick “System Management”.
  3. Choose “Place system on test”.
  4. Open your alarm system’s panel and gently tug on the wires leading from your battery to disconnect them.
  5. Reconnect the battery by connecting the red wire to the red tab on the battery and doing the same for the black wire corresponding to the black tab.
  6. Close the panel door and remove the alarm system from “Test mode”.
  7. In MyADT.com click on “My alarm”, and back in “System Management” again, choose “Stop test”.

It may display a low battery warning for 48 hours while recharging. The low battery warning should disappear on its own once recharged. If you need to replace your battery still, we’ll show you how now.

How to replace your alarm system battery?

Every system is different so you first need to work out which battery you need. That’s because some ADT batteries are required to be changed by a qualified technician and others you can change yourself. The main difference is whether the battery is located inside the keypad or the panel.

Now that you know which battery you need, simply order a new one, and then you will be able to replace it or call out a technician.

If you need to order a technician to visit you can do it via MyADT.com and chatting with a representative, or by calling 1-800-ADT-ASAP. If you are replacing it yourself you should locate your system manual and follow the exact instructions since every system is different.

Now if you ever ask yourself “how to stop adt alarm from low battery beeping?”, you will know what to do. In many cases, it’s just a simple process of allowing the batteries to recharge. The next time you get a low battery beeping on your ADT alarm you will know exactly what to do in seconds!
