In today’s world, technology has brought comfort to a whole new level. One of the many advantages that come with modern technology is smart devices. These include smart homes that use smart technologies such as TV, speakers, lighting, appliances, locks, security cameras and in my case thermostats.
But in order to enjoy all the features of these temperature controlling devices what we all need is whether it is compatible with our voice control security system or not. I have been using Alexa in my home and therefore, I searched and researched for those devices that would work well with my Alexa,
So, what are the smart thermostats that work with Alexa? While there are several smart thermostats available in the market, not all smart thermostats work well with Alexa. I have compiled the list of some of the best thermostats that you can connect with your Alexa. They include:-
- Ecobee Smart Thermostat with Voice control
- Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat
- Honeywell RTH9585WF1004
- Google Nest Thermostat E
- Honeywell T5 Smart Thermostat
- IDevices Thermostat
- Emerson Sensi WiFi Smart Thermostat
- Google T3007ES Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen
Ecobee Smart Thermostat with Voice control
Are you looking for a smart thermostat that work with Alexa? No need, ecobee Smart Thermostat comes with built in Alexa and therefore, “with Voice control” is included in its name. It is, by far, one of the best thermostats with Alexa. The thermostat was introduced just two years ago in the market, and its performance has been stellar.
Some of the features of ecobee smart thermostat include a vivid touch display, Quad-core processor, far-field voice recognition, as well as built in Alexa.
The only downside to this thermostat is its high price tag of $249, as well as a sophisticated user interface.
You can check more of the specifications and current price of Ecobee Smart thermostat on Amazon.
Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat
This is one of the first ever built smart thermostats that came with a built-in Alexa. This allows you to operate your thermostat without the need for separate Echo device. With the built in Alexa you can control your entire smart home with just your thermostat.
Additionally, it also comes with a smart room sensor, which will allow you to monitor the climate of every room as well as use your HVAC system more efficiently.
This thermostat can also be paired with other devices to get full house coverage.
The only downside that I see in this thermostat is its high price of $199, whereas this keeps changing and with certain festive discounts you can grab this as a much lower price.

Google Nest Thermostat
While Nest is owned and controlled by Google, it is still possible to use their smart thermostats with Alexa and Echo. The Google Nest Thermostat is easy to use, affordable and can also work with additional sensors like ecobee.
Though, this thermostat doesn’t come with additional bells and whistles due to its relatively cheap price (a unit going for $170), the device works better in a smaller room. You can also use Echo to remotely control the thermostat for large houses.
The only two downsides that I have come across this now that the sensors are a bit weaker as compared to ecobee and it requires additional sensors to work more efficiently. However, using additional sensors is a good to go for a home.
I have used Next Thermostat for a long time and I never had to go through any problems. However, I would recommend to go for ecobee but if your budget is not that much then you must have a Nest Thermostat. Check the current price of Nest on Amazon.
Honeywell T5 Smart Thermostat
Unlike the other Thermostats, the Honeywell T5 Smart thermostat does not come with the fancy large screen and displays. Despite this disadvantage, it still has different abilities like geofencing which is an out of the box concept.
The thermostat allows you to set your programmable temperature control routines depending on where you are.
Other useful features you can find on this device include adaptive recovery that enables the thermostat to learn how long it takes to get the right temperature and automatically adjust it to your schedules.
However, it is also provides smart alerts and is compitable with other utility rebate programs.
I have found out only one downside of this device, it does not come with built in Alexa and a touchscreen. You can get an Alexa device from Amazon and your thermostat will connect with it, making your home a smart home.
You can grab a Honeywell T5 Smart thermostat from here without any difficulty.
The iDevices Thermostat, on the other hand, is a little more old school for a smart device.
This device may lack the fancy usual fancy touchscreen features but still a good device for smart home controls. The thermostat comes with buttons and a small display of temperature.
However, the device has a lot of other advantages of its own. It comes at a relatively low price of $66, very easy to install and works with all three voice assistants (Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri).
The only downside, lack of fancy features, however, makes it a device that most of the people would not find impressive.
I would recommend you to buy this thermostat only if your budget is very low and you need a thermostat that can get conncted to whichever assistant you want.
Emerson Sensi WiFi Smart Thermostat
If you are looking for one of the best thermostats that can blend well in your home, then the Emerson Sensi WiFi Smart Thermostat should be on top of your list.
Sensi does not only work with Alexa but also works with Apple Homekit. On the other hand, you can save about 23% of your power and you don’t need any professional installation.
You can find a lot of additional features like smart alerts, extensive compatibility as well as ability to be controlled from anywhere in the house.
The price of Sensi is also relatively lower as compared to other thermostats and you can buy it from Amazon at just $92.88.
Google T3007ES Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen
Nest Learning Thermostat is one of the latest thermostats from Google owned Nest. This latest thermostat has all the features that you hope to find in a device like this.
Instead of coming from Google, it is also compatible with Amazon’s Alexa. It can save a lot of energy and with its learning technology, it learns the temperature and sets it accordingly as per your need. The thermostat can auto schedule your routine for which temperature you prefer at what time.
However, the device too has one downside is its price, which is a bit on the higher side at $219.95. But, if you look at the features you get with this thermostat, you will find that the price is lower as compared to the features you get.
