Most of the kitchen chimney comes in two different sizes i.e, 60cm and 90 cm. It very essential to use the right chimney for your kitchen so that it can suck all the smoke and fumes coming out while cooking.

If your chimney size is bigger than your stove size, then it becomes easy for the chimney to such up all the kitchen pollution very easily even it is not placed correctly. But if your chimney size is same as your hob size then it must be placed in such a way that it covers your stove from all the ends.

Maintaining perfect distance between the Hob and the chimney

The distance between the hob a chimney is a very important thing that needs to be maintained perfectly while installing. The distance between these two must be between 26 inches to 30 inches. Since, there is presence of oil in the chimney collector so there is always a chance of fir if the distance is less than 26 inches. However, if the distance increases then the suction power of the chimney might not work properly and your kitchen would not be smoke and grease free.

Chimney Duct

Nowadays, most of the chimneys that you can find in the market are ductless. However, if you have a ducted chimney then you must use a duct made of stainless steel or aluminium. These two are highly durable and efficient material for this purpose. You can also use PVC pipes but there are always chances that they may get burnt or melt while suction.

The pipe should also not have a lot of bends as more volume of bends may be difficult for exhaust. Try using short pipes with less number of bends.

Creating Hole for Chimney Duct

The cut out hole for duct must be at a height of 7 feet above the ground on the exterior wall of the kitchen. In case, there is no pre-existing hole and you do not have equipment to do it then contact a chimney installer for installing chimney at correct position.

However, if you have a space for exhaust then you can also use that cut out for chimney duct installation. But if you live in a rented house then prefer to go for ductless chimney.
