Nothing is more frustrating than when something that’s supposed to make your life easier starts to cause you a headache.

However, for every problem, there is a solution. Keep reading to find out how to troubleshoot Ring Chime Pro not working.

How to troubleshoot a Ring Chime Pro that’s unresponsive?

If you have an unresponsive Ring Chime Pro that won’t light up, try to troubleshoot it before trading it in for a new model.

Although this may seem obvious, the first thing you should do if your Ring Chime Pro isn’t working is to plug it into a different outlet. Do this to ensure the issue is with your Ring device and not the outlet itself.

Once you’ve established that the issue is with your Ring Pro Chime and not the outlet, make sure that the internal software has been updated and the device is connected to WIFI.

Use the following steps to make sure everything is set up:

  1. Open up the Ring app.
  2. Look for 3 lines on the top left side of the screen, tap on these to open up the menu.
  3. Select Device from the menu and tap to open it.
  4. Once open, select the Chime Pro.
  5. From there, select Device Health.

Once you have Device Health open you’ll be able to check for any necessary updates and whether or not the device is actually connected to a WIFI network.

How to troubleshoot a Ring Chime Pro that isn’t notifying you?

When a visitor arrives and your Ring Chime Pro doesn’t alert you, it’s important that you check to see if all the alert settings in the Ring app are enabled. Follow these steps to make sure everything is enabled.

  1. Open up the Ring app.
  2. Find the 3 lines located on the top left corner of the screen and select them to open the menu.
  3. Choose Device from the menu.
  4. From there, select the Chime Pro.
  5. Once you get there, select Audio settings.
  6. Now select Chime Alerts.

When you’re in this section you may notice some icons are grey and others are blue. Blue means active and grey mean deactivated.

In order to activate a grey icon, you will need to tap it for it to activate and turn blue.

You can also do the same things to blue icons when you want to deactivate them.

There are two particular icons you should look for when you open this screen.

The icon with an image of a running person is the Motion Event icon and the bell icon is the alert for when somebody rings your doorbell.

You will want to make sure both of these icons are blue to receive alerts from the Ring Chime Pro.

How to troubleshoot a Ring Chime Pro that can’t extend a WIFI signal?

The point of having a Ring Chime Pro is to get alerts all throughout your home.

If the WIFI signal isn’t extending, then you may not get notifications of someone arriving at your door.

When this happens, it isn’t an issue with your Ring device. Actually, the problem is where your router is located.

Since the router is the main source of WIFI connection for the Ring device.

If your Ring Chime Pro isn’t extending the WIFI signal, then the router may be in the wrong spot.

It’s recommended that you keep the router within 20 to 25 feet of the Ring Device.
