How to Fix Fire TV Orange Light in Seconds?

A Fire TV is an excellent way of streaming your favorite shows and relaxing, but it can be frustrating when your TV decides to restart itself while you’re in the middle of watching something. It’s even more stressful when you see an orange light on your device but no dialogue box to tell you what to do to fix the problem.

Checking your WiFi connection

Suppose you have your Fire Cube too close to something metal that can interfere with its ability to find the signal. Before restarting or resetting your Fire TV or router, you should check that your WiFi connection is strong. Also, check if you have too many devices using WiFi or Bluetooth, which can decrease the overall signal. 

If there’s a weak signal and there’s nothing you can do about it because of the location of your TV or you don’t have the fastest WiFi, you can try connecting through an ethernet cable. The ethernet cable will bypass any WiFi connection errors and give you a direct connection from your router to your Fire TV. 

Restarting your Fire TV

After solving any WiFi problems, the next easiest and usually most effective solution to try is restarting your Fire TV. You can even try turning off and unplugging your TV and waiting 30 to 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on. This can wipe anything interfering from the device’s memory.

If this fixes the connection problem, your TV will automatically connect to your WiFi. 

How to force your Fire TV to restart?

You can force your Fire TV to restart with the remote by simultaneously pressing and holding the “Select” and “Play/Pause” buttons for 5 seconds. Your TV should start rebooting.

If you don’t have your remote, you can always install the Fire TV Remote app on your phone and use that to restart or reset. 

Reconnecting your WiFi

If your TV still isn’t connecting automatically, you can go into the WiFi settings on your Fire TV and click the option for your WiFi access points. From there, you will see an option to forget your current network, which you can select.

Once forgetting the network, you can start the process of connecting to your WiFi anew by scanning for WiFi and entering in your password as prompted. 

Restarting your router

Sometimes the issue has nothing to do with the Fire TV itself, and your router is the issue. In this case, restarting your router can be all you need to solve the problem. Some routers have on/off switches on the back, while others you will need to turn off and unplug. Please wait for 30 seconds and then plug it back in and/or turn it on. 

However, avoid any buttons that say “Reset” or “Restart,” as these will reset your router back to factory conditions. Resetting your router erases your settings, and you will need to set up your router as if it were new. 

Resetting your Fire TV

If all else fails, you can reset your Fire TV to factory conditions. Remember that resetting your device erases any settings, log-ins, and local storage you may currently have on your device. You will need to set up your Fire TV as if it were new. 

To reset your TV:

  1. Eject any expandable storage you have.
  2. Simultaneously press and hold the “Back” and “Right” buttons for 10 seconds.
  3. A dialogue box will appear on the TV, prompting you to either continue with or cancel the factory reset. Select the “Continue” option or wait, and the device should automatically reset. 

Once your device has reset, you can proceed to set up the TV as if it were new by going through your settings and connecting to your chosen WiFi network. 

Turning off your router’s firewall

Some routers have a built-in firewall, making them safer to use but can interfere with your Fire TV’s ability to connect to your WiFi. You will need to go to your router’s settings and find the menu for firewalls, filters or packet checks. The name will depend on which router you have. There should be an option to disable the firewall. 

Once the firewall is disabled, you can try connecting your Fire TV again. After your TV connects, you can turn the firewall back on.
